It's a matter of degree in each case. Driving a car accelerates wear. Surely you can understand the disparity that exists btween my example and the UDP. When you realize there is a greater risk with the pulley than any of the mods that you used in your example, then you will be able to contribute some useful input to the debate. My opinion is that the UDP is a POS and contributed directly to the accelerated wear of my #3 rod bearing leading to the necessary rebuild. But I would never cite my specific case as proof of anything. But we all know about opinions...
